Torch of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games

©IOC Jürg Donatsch

This torch, which is 94cm long, was created according to a concept inspired by the lines left in the snow or ice from winter sports. This torch is a form of tribute to nature: it recalls the snowdrift sculpted by the wind, the tracks left by skiers in the snow, the lines sketched by skaters in the ice, etc. Its large size was deliberate: it serves to recall not only the immensity of Canada, but also its enormous potential and its big heart.
