Family name: Federer
Given name: Roger
Date and place of birth: 8 August 1981 in Basle (Switzerland)
Nationality: Swiss
Olympic achievements: gold medal in the men’s doubles with Stanislas Wawrinka (Beijing 2008)

This outfit, which was not worn, belonged to Roger Federer. Composed of a polo shirt, shorts, trainers, socks, wristband, and bandana in the colours of Switzerland, it is like the one the tennis champion wore when he won the men’s doubles final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

It was at these Games that Roger Federer added to his impressive list of achievements a trophy which had previously eluded him: an Olympic title. Beaten in the quarter-finals of the singles tournament by American James Blake, he made up for this a few days later by winning this long-coveted gold medal in the doubles with his compatriot, Stanislas Wawrinka.
