Relive Vancouver 2010 Day 5 - February 16, 2010

Summary

Germany’s domination of the women’s luge continued on Day 5 of the Games: Tatjana Huefner ensured that Germany maintained its grip on the Olympic women’s luge event by sliding to gold.

The 26-year-old, who won bronze at Turin 2006, and was interviewed in Olympic Review’s pre-Games issue, won the first two runs, and three of the four runs overall, winning by a comfortable 0.49 seconds. The German women have been virtually unbeatable in luge in the last decade, but Austria’s Nina Reithmayer prevented a third Olympic clean sweep for Germany by winning silver. Geisenberger won the bronze.
